General
What is Lounjy?
Lounjy is an IPTV player. You use it with an IPTV service you have subscribed to yourself. Lounjy shows that service’s channels, films and series in a clear layout, with a TV guide, and plays them on your PC, phone, tablet or Android TV.
Does Lounjy come with channels?
No. Lounjy doesn’t provide any channels, films, series or playlists, and doesn’t point you to any service. Without your own IPTV service, there’s nothing to watch in Lounjy.
Where do I find an IPTV service?
We don’t give advice on that, and we don’t work with any service. Choose a service that holds the rights to what it broadcasts. Anyone offering Lounjy ‘with channels included’ has nothing to do with us.
Is Lounjy legal?
Yes. Lounjy is a player, just like a media player on your PC. You decide what you watch with it. It’s your responsibility that your service holds the rights to what you watch.
What’s the difference between Xtream Codes and M3U?
They’re two ways a service can deliver your channels.
- Xtream Codes: you get a server address, a username and a password. With those, Lounjy fetches channels, films, series and the TV guide in one go. Choose this if your service offers it.
- M3U: you get a link or a file with the channel list, sometimes with a separate link for the TV guide (XMLTV).
How much does Lounjy cost?
Lounjy is free, with no ads. With the free version you watch live TV, films and series from one playlist, with a TV guide. Plus is coming soon and adds multiple playlists, watching from the start, your own layout and backups, among other things. You buy Plus in the app.
On how many devices can I use Plus?
On up to five devices, in any mix of Windows, phone and TV.
Which languages is Lounjy available in?
Lounjy follows your device’s language, and you can also choose one yourself. Arabic is shown fully right to left.
Setup
Where do I find my login details?
In the message your IPTV service sent when you signed up, or in your account with that service. If you can’t find them, ask your service. We don’t have them.
Do I have to type everything with the remote on my TV?
No. Choose Load playlist and then With your phone. Scan the QR code and enter your details on your phone. See Set up from your phone.
Loading takes a long time. Is that normal?
The first time, yes, if your service has thousands of channels and films. Lounjy shows how far along it is, and you can always cancel. After that, Lounjy updates channels and guide by itself in the background, and never while you’re watching.
What is a user agent, and do I need to fill it in?
Usually not. A user agent is the name an app uses to identify itself to your service’s server. Some services only allow certain names. If your service gave you a user agent, enter it in Settings, under advanced.
My TV guide is empty or wrong.
- Empty for a few channels: open Link TV guide. Lounjy suggests which guide channel belongs to which channel, and how sure it is. You can also link them yourself.
- Times shifted: set a time shift in Link TV guide, for example one hour.
- Completely empty with M3U: ask your service for a TV guide link (XMLTV) and add it to your playlist.
- If your service temporarily provides no guide, the last guide stays in place and Lounjy shows what’s on now and next.
Watching
A channel won’t play.
- Try another channel. If none of them work, it’s usually the service or your connection.
- If the same channel is listed more than once, Lounjy automatically tries another version.
- Are you already watching on another device with the same account? Many services only allow one or two connections at a time.
- Open Status and diagnostics in Settings. It shows whether your service can be reached and how fast your connection is.
The picture stutters.
On a TV, use a network cable if you can. If it still stutters, increase the buffer in Settings, under advanced. Only turn off hardware decoding if the picture stays black or looks distorted.
‘Watch from the start’ or catch-up doesn’t work.
That only works if your service keeps an archive for that channel. If it doesn’t, Lounjy hides the button. Rewinding a little in what you’ve just watched live always works.
How do I set up subtitles?
While watching, open the controls and choose Subtitles. There you choose the language, the size and the style. Lounjy remembers your preferred language for subtitles and audio.
Privacy and security
Where are my login details kept?
Only on your own device, encrypted in the secure storage of Windows or Android. They never go to us. Backups don’t contain them either.
Does Lounjy keep track of what I watch?
Only on your own device, for ‘Continue watching’ and your recent channels. Lounjy doesn’t send your viewing to us or anyone else. Read the privacy statement.
Do I need a VPN?
No. If you use one for privacy, turn on Only play via VPN. Lounjy then won’t play anything while your VPN isn’t connected. Lounjy isn’t meant for getting around regional restrictions.
Installing and updates
Windows says ‘Windows protected your PC’.
Windows sometimes shows this for new programs it hasn’t seen often. If you downloaded Lounjy from this site, choose More info and then Run anyway. To be sure, compare the SHA-256 checksum with SHA256SUMS.txt on the download page, or install from the Microsoft Store.
How do I get updates?
From Google Play or the Microsoft Store, updates arrive automatically. If you used the separate installer, Lounjy tells you itself when there’s a new version, and what changed.
Does Lounjy work on Fire TV?
Fire TV runs on Android, so you can install Lounjy on it separately with Downloader (see Install separately). We mainly test on Android TV and Google TV. If you run into anything on Fire TV, please let us know.
Is there a version for iPhone, iPad or Mac?
Not yet. Lounjy is available for Windows, Android phones and tablets, and Android TV.
